Coring transect in Donegal

Date

May 2023

Location

Donegal

We returned to Donegal to take cores along a transect going from the cliff edge inland. The aim is to assess the impact of variable amounts of sea spray deposition on storminess proxies, which will be analysed along the transect. It was a difficult trip, with fog and torrential rain making navigation and coring tricky, and we had many heavy cores to carry. However on the last day when the sun finally came out we were able to appreciate the views and the many small flowers currently out on the bogs
